NASDAQ 100(NDX) is a stock market index made of 100 of the largest non-financial companies listed on the NASDAQ. NASDAQ 100 Index started on January 1985 and it was introduced by NASDAQ Stock Exchange. NASDAQ 100 started with index base value at 250. In December 1993, NASDAQ 100 Index was reset and adjusted to 125 value. Index values are useful for investors to track changes in market values over long periods of time. Technical analysis uses index charts to identify changes in trends whether short-term, mid-term or long-term time frames.
